Not listed? How to tell on your machine
- Look for a Fog or Manual button on the front, back and top panels. Many machines also have one on the plug-in receiver box, often a red button. If you find one, wait for the ready light, then press it.
- Give it time to heat up. Most machines only fog after a 2-10 minute warm-up. Pressing earlier does nothing, so it can look broken when it is not.
- Only a socket, no button? Then it needs a remote (or its receiver) to fog. A button that only lights up or switches power is not a fog button.
- Buying a replacement: start with the maker's own part for your model number (on the label on the back or bottom). For a universal remote, match the plug (count the pins: 3-pin and 5-pin plugs are not interchangeable), the type (wired, wireless with receiver, or timer) and, for wireless sets, the frequency on the receiver label.
Never hot-wire or jumper the remote socket. On some machines the remote cable carries mains voltage. Unplug the machine before you plug in or unplug a remote.
Replacement & timer remotes
Check the plug and the fit line before you buy. The maker's own remote is always the safest match.

FAQ
Can you use a fog machine without the remote?
Many can. Bigger machines from brands like Chauvet DJ and ADJ often have a Manual or Fog button on the back panel, while many budget machines fog only from their remote or its plug-in receiver.
Why won’t my fog machine fog when I press the button?
Usually it is still heating up. Wait for the ready light (2-10 minutes on most machines), check the fluid level, and make sure the remote plug is pushed all the way in.
Will any fog machine remote work on my machine?
No. The plug (3-pin or 5-pin), the wiring and, for wireless sets, the frequency all have to match. The maker’s own remote for your model number is the safest choice.
Can I bypass the remote socket with a wire?
Don’t. On some machines the remote cable carries mains voltage, so jumpering the socket can shock you or damage the machine. Get the right remote instead.
What does a timer remote do?
It fogs on its own at the interval and burst length you set. That is handy for Halloween yards and haunted houses, where nobody stands next to the machine.
